Recombinant DNA technology is a novel technique that has progressed in many fields such as research, agriculture, and drug development. Recombinant DNA is a type of DNA that can be made by scientists through a process called transcription. Transcription can be done through either DNA or a nucleic acid. Transcription is carried out by the DNA molecules itself, whilst transcription of a nucleic acid occurs by a piece of DNA referred to as a primer. The primer can also be used as an effector for specific genetic applications such as inserting mutations that change the structure of DNA or creating insertions that introduce insertional mutations in DNA.
