3D Audio Is Increasingly Becoming Common With Typical Applications In Speaker Arrays, Headphones, And Stereo Speakers
3D Audio is a set of audio effects that change the perceived sound from one format to another, usually with the help of two or more external devices. 3D audio is an actual format and not just a masking format like other formats. Stereo audio refers to the transfer of stereo sound from one source to another, say from a stereo CD to a stereo DVD or a stereo headphone. Stereo audio solutions can be thought of as a transfer of mono audio. Mono is the least compressed 3D audio format available on a computer. In this method, all the audio data for each channel is stored as a series of compressed channels that are sent as stereo channels to output devices. Stereo output devices include tape decks, tape mixers, microphones, and speakers.
The most common stereo format is stereo audio. This means all the data for each channel is stored as separate channels which are fed to appropriate outputs. There are some common formats in audio though. Mono or "left channel" is fed to left speakers and right speakers will send their data to right speakers. Stereo audio is usually mono. Multichannel stereo is different from mono in that it allows up to nine channels of audio to be delivered to the listener. Multichannel stereo tracks can be played individually (with left and right channel) or can be combined in stereo ways (such as with stereo and surround sound).
One common configuration for 3D audio devices is to convert them to PCM (or sample rate modulation) data. PCM is a lower quality audio format than SRAM, but it will produce better results than compressed audio or direct stream audio. To use PCM, you will need a computer with a card reader and then a device driver installed on your computer. The output device will act as a middleman between the computer and your audio hardware.
