Bag-On-Valve Technology Is an Advanced Form of Packaging Technology, Which Is Used In Packaging Aerosols Such As Room Fresheners, And Deodorants

Bag-On-Valve Technology

Bag-On-Valve technology is used all over the world, including regions such as Germany, Mexico, and Japan. Bag-On-Valve technology is a nozzle similar to a spray head. The unique characteristic of this component is that it separates the liquid product from the solid bulk at one-point contact. This one-point contact point can be determined by the absence of a solid wall around the outlet. The unique feature of the bag-on-vent system makes use of high-pressure forced air. There are two venting options. One important advantage of Bag-On-Valve technology is that it separates the product into two streams of liquid. The first stream is the inlet stream and the second stream is the discharge stream. In other words, the inlet side is a liquid and the discharge side is a gas. This one-way flow feature of these tanks allows for the separation of solids from liquids.

One option is through a gas one-way valve and the other one is through a solenoid valve. The gas option features larger tanks while the solenoid option features smaller ones. The gas option features variable speed fans to provide optimum cooling. They also have adjustable air temperature control. A typical separator tank features a single outlet; however, there are dual-rear press-fit bags on the market. These types feature two outlets with each having its gas port. Press-fit bags use an air compression system for separation. Bag-On-Valve technology is used to package aerosols, such as room fresheners and deodorants. In regions such as Germany, with the presence of a large number of air freshener manufacturing companies, the demand for Bag-On-Valve technology is also high. Some companies worth mentioning are Church & Dwight Co. Inc., Henkel KGaA, Reckitt Benckiser Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., and many more.

The process in which Bag-On-Valve technology operates is not a challenging one. The most common gas used in traditional aerosol self-injecting aerosol style packaging is butane, which is also quite explosive especially in high pressure or high-temperature environments. The compressed gas from the bag on the valve package is either nitrogen or oxygen, these types of gases are naturally safe. With this Bag-On-Valve technology, it is basically like feeding a compressed airbag into the tank along with the correct amount of propellant. In other words, the compressed airbag is continuously fed into the bag on valve assembly with the correct amount of gas or fuel inside.
