Blood Clotting Factors Market Is Gaining Significant Traction With Novo Nordisk Receiving The U.S. Fda Approval For Its Biologics License Application The Treatment Of Hemophilia A

Blood Clotting Factors Market

Blood clotting refers to the physiological process whereby red blood cells bind together with plasma (blood plasma) and stop the spread of blood from one vessel to another. Coagulation, or blood clotting, is normally the result of the thrombotic occlusion, whereby a blood clot forms in a blood vessel (venous thrombus) after it breaks, usually due to intense physical trauma or bleeding. Since there is a high yield of plasma products and has increasing number of patients with blood disorders, North America is likely to gain robust traction in the blood clotting factors market in the near future. On the contrary, Asia Pacific is exhibiting promising signs with improving healthcare infrastructure and rising disposable income in the region.

Blood clotting factors play an immense role in control the bleeding wherein blood is converted into solid lots at the time of any wound or break down of blood vessels. Over the years, regulatory authorities have approved novel drugs for blood clotting factors. Recently, in April 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), approved Sevenfact (coagulation factor VII (recombinant)-jncw] to Laboratoire Francais du Fractionnement et des Biotechnologies S.A. for the treatment and control of bleeding episodes occurring in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and above with hemophilia A or B. Thus, such factors can potentially stimulate growth of the blood clotting factors market.

One of the common blood clotting factors is fibrinogen, which is produced by a specific enzyme (alpha-plechin) called purines. Although fibrinogen is produced by every human cell and is used in all organs including the red blood cells, it is particularly important in the clotting process. Fibrin is a complex protein consisting of two proteins namely fibrin protein and peptide chains. Regardless of these positive factors, stringent regulatory policies for product approval remain one of the major hurdles in the development of the blood clotting factors market. Besides, a shortage in plasma supply can impede growth of the market in the near future.

Another great factor that governs the demand for blood clotting factors is high prevalence of hemophilia. As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), around 400 babies are born with hemophilia each year in the U.S. Such factors could lead to high growth of the blood clotting factors market in the near future. Recently, in February 2019, Novo Nordisk, a Danish drug developer, received the U.S. FDA approval for its Biologics License Application for Esperoct (turoctocog alfa pegol) formerly known as N8-GP, for the treatment of children and adults with hemophilia A.
